An information system for crop modelling [Hordeum vulgare]

A model has been built taking into account both physiological and barley biology. The model is subdivided into four modules: a topographic, a meteorological, a soil and a crop module. The outputs of the topographic, meteorological and soil modules are the parameters of water and energy balance, and these parameters from the inputs to the crop module for computing the biomass. Crop sensitivity to land characteristics and interactions between land and climate can thus be described with great accuracy. The results could be used to produce different scenarios in relation to agricultural systems
