[Effect of phytohormones on the content of nitrates in maize sprouts under different levels of nitrogen nutrition]

Accumulation of nitrates, dry matter mass as well as nitrate-reductase activity of maize germs grown at different levels of nitrate nitrogen on the medium with phytohormones were studied under the conditions of water culture on the complete Krone nutrient medium. Among the studied phytohormones (gibberellin, fusicoccin, cytokinin) cytokinin has exerted the highest effect on the studied indices. One could observe that cytokinin produced a 15-25% decrease of nitrates content in the roots, and its 10-15% decrease in the leaves, 2-4 time increase of nitrate-reductase activity in the roots and its 6-14% increase in the leaves and increase of the root dry matter mass of the roots and sprout leaves by 14-24%
