The presented work evaluates the cumulation dynamics of 12 elements (Mg, Ca, K, Na, Zn, Fe, Cu, Cd, Pb, Cl, F, S,) in leaves of Betula pendula and in the soil of three town settlements (Bratislava, Nitra, Zilina) in three functional segments of the settlement greenery: a town park, a housing estate, a road. The highest values (in leaves of birch) were found for Ca, K, Cl, F, S along the thoroughfare in Bratislava, for Mg, Na, Fe, Cu in Nitra, and for Pb and Zn in Zilina. The values exceeded the limit of physiological tolerance of woody plants. Similar is the tendency of elements cumulation in soil. Soil reaction of the evaluated greenery in surface layers is alkaline and moderately increasing with the depth (7.91-8.07 pH). The content of the elements in leaves and soil were determined on the basis of evaluation of the growth biorhythm of Betula pendula. No visual symptoms of damage occurred at these limits under conditions of the evaluated settlements.
