Study on designing small scale semiautomatic fluidised bed dryer and test its efficiency for drying of corn grains

Present investigation is to design and construct a small scale semiautomatic fluidised bed dryer for drying of corn grains. The investigations covered designing and experimenting on various prototypes. The rectangular drying column type of scale 7 x 70 x 50 centrimetres is most suitable and a prototype was built. The fluidised bed dryer consists of blower and heater in the bottom of drying column with screw feeder and outlet in each side of the column. After testing the efficiency, the results show that it can be applied to dry some cereal grains. It can be reduced the moisture in the grain from 25-52 % to 10-15 % in 40-60 minutes with the appropiated drying rate.
