Field experiments were conducted to study the effect of depth of seeding of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety SW 49 on growth and yield at National Corn and Sorghum Research Center during November 1984 to March 1985. Randomized Completed Block Design (RCB) with 4 replications of three depth of seeding (0, 5 and 10 cm.) were used in this experiment. Results of the experiment indicated that depth of seeding had no influence on growth and yield of SW 49. Although at 10 cm. seeding depth, number of plant/sq.m. recorded was less than at 0 cm. and 5 cm., with lesser plant/sq.m. in 10 cm. seeding depth the ability of SW 49 to compensate for grain weight at harvest comparable to that of the other two seeding depth.
