Biological excess phosphorus uptake with activated sludge systems has been studied by means of aerobic batch experiments. The sludge used originated from a lab-scale Phoredox unit. This unit is fed with a synthetic feed, containing phosphate and COD, in order to allow development of an enhanced culture of polyphosphate-bacteria under stable conditions. With this sludge a set of aerobic batch-experiments were performed. The results of these experiments lead to estimate for parameters in a model for phosphorus-uptake and polyhydroxyalkanoates consumption under aerobic conditions
