This work reports on the experiences gained with the ecological pilot farms network during the period 1991 to 1993. The project was commissioned by the Swiss Federal Office of Agriculture and aimed at defining minimal requirements as to particularly environmentally and animal friendly farming methods, at checking how the measures work under practical conditions, and at clarifying the economic consequences to be expected
