Microclimatic measurements along an altitudinal gradient crossing the model catchment area in the Orlicke Mts., and the data measured by the meteorological station at Rokytnice, confirm the existence of an anemo-orographic system the culmination part of which lies on the main ridge of the Orlicke Mts. The terrain morphology together with the prevailing western or northern winds increases the effect of atmospheric pollution resulting in vast clearance. Measurements of the depths of snow cover within a large part of the catchment area brought about the data allowing a rough calculation of snow (water) supplies. The snow dislocation within the deforested area shows much higher heterogeneity in the retained snow distribution than that expected in the healthy forest stand. Thawing would bring about much faster runoff. Analysis of snow stratigraphy at the sites of measurement along the transect has confirmed that the heterogenity of snow layers depend on the site conditions. In the woods persisting in the most exposed part, the content of some elements falls, other elements suggest leaching from the tissues due to acidification, etc. Also the plant species composition of stands on the sites of measurements as observed in the following growing season indicates the site acidification or nitrogen enrichment; ruderal species appear while the original ones are disappearing.
