In two previous papers the theoretical grounds for calculating of RDP, UDP and metabolizable protein, also metabolizable protein content of feeds are discussed. The aim of this paper is to check which protein category is the most suitable for calculation of rations. As digestible protein is at present the generally used category, it was used in our calculating as a control variant. The other categories were: (a) crude protein, (b) RDP and UDP, (c) metabolizable protein. All the rations used in this estimating were maximally balanced according to digestible protein. Accounting for the protein in rations on the basis of RDP and UDP showed that these are too protein- rich. However, such conclusion seems to be doubtful, that is why this way cannot be taken into account. On the other hand, the metabolizable protein as the basis of accounting gives a logical result
