The effect of local containers on keeping the quality of honey is not known yet. In the experiment four common types of local containers (hide bag, gourd pots, clay pots, and iron tin) were used. Four replications from each kind were used, two of which were coated with beeswax. A homogenized honey sample (2 kg) was placed in each type of container for one year. Moisture content was examined monthly throughout the trial period. Variation in moisture content of honeys kept in different coated and non-coated containers was observed. According to the results, all local containers are not appropriate to store consumable honeys for a longer time. The coated ones are relatively better for use when there is no other choice.
