The effect of different IBA concentrations on the rooting response of Rose cvs. Baccara and Concerto hard-wood cuttings, with and without a heel at their base, was investigated in a two year experiment. There was no difference between "heel" and "non heel" hardwood cuttings on rooting percentage, root fresh weight, root number per rooted cutting and root length in both varieties. IBA concentrations at 500, 1000 and 2000 ppm increased rooting percentage of Baccara both "heel" and "non heel" hardwood cuttings, but only that one of 1000 ppm affected at once rooting percentage and root fresh weight root number and root length. In both types of Concerto hardwood cuttings the most effective IBA concentration was 1000 ppm on rooting percentage and root length, without any influence on root fresh weight and root number per rooted cutting.
