Econometrical modelling and prognostisation of the raw material situation in the meat industry

Balanced raw material supply is a basic prerequisite of the competitive power of the Hungarian meat industry. This fact requires many sided analysis of the economic conditions for the meat industrial raw material production. It makes this mission more sophisticated since long-term persistent tendencies, seasonal fluctuations, pig cyclic effects as well as incidental events are simultanously present in the swine sector. Our article demonstrates, how can the up-to-date economic prognostics render help even at such a complicated system to explore the existing operational specialities and the behavioural characteristics of each market actor. All this information offer substanial assistance for the meat industry to specify the changing tendencies of raw material production according to the factors of pig supply, as well as to develop adequate strategies in the production policies
