The complex virus infection of Lagenaria siceraria cv. turbinata by grapevine fanleaf nepovirus, cucumber mosaic cucumovirus, and watermelon mosaic-2 potyvirus

Antisera of 18 isolates of l4 viruses belonging to different virus groups /Cucumo, Nepo, Poty, Tobamo, Tymo/ were used for serological tests as compared with clean preparations of the Lagenaria-infecting viruses obtained from Nicotiana clevelandii and N. tabacum cv. Xanthi-nc plants. The cleaned preparations showed a positive serological reaction against the cucumber mosaic cucumovirus /CMV/, the grapevine fanleaf nepovirus /GFLV/, and the watermelon mosaic-2 potyvirus /WMV-2/. According to the authors' knowledge, Lagenaria siceraria is the first herbaceous natural host plant of GFLV
