Alternative methods of excess active sludge and sewer utilization

The chemical analysis of excess active sludge was made. Dry matter (percent), organic matter (percent) and content of heavy metals with special at attention to zinc content (mg/100 mg d.m.) were determined. It was found that the sludges have proteolytic activity. Because of this the usability of active sludge to isolate proteolytic enzymes were studied. Possibility of use methane fermentation to utilize waste biomass from biological treatment plant was researched, too
