The results presented concern the variability and correlation of the major yield-forming properties for 493 forms of winter triticale in a 4-year study. For a population of winter triticale it was found that the highest variability is displayed by such properties as the number and weight of grains per ear. At the same time a considerable effect of environmental variability on the values of the properties is observed. The weight of grains per ear shows the highest correlation with the number of grains per ear, ear productivity, and with the weight of 1000 grains. The weight of 1000 grains as well as the protein content in grain display low, frequently negative coefficients of correlation with other elements of the yield structure under study
