The effect of toxin produced by Fusarium graminearum on the androgenesis induction process, on the regeneration capacity of pollen calli and on green plants yields was studied for 12 F1 hybrids and 4 varieties. Mitotic abnormalities were higher in toxic than in non-toxic medium. This suggests a mutagene of the F2 toxin. Although the toxin had various effects depending on the variety genotype and the toxin concentration, it generally stimulated anther productivity. The resulting calli yielded green plants, the regeneration rate depending on the variety genotype and the toxin concentration. On some genotypes the toxin had a stimulating effect whereas on others it had an inhibiting one, suggesting a possible selective and/or mutagen action. The effect of the toxin on the regeneration rate and on yield of green plants is obvious in hybrids where the number of albino plants increases and green plant yield decreases with a higher toxin concentration. This could be due to a mutagen action of the F2 toxin.
