Humus status of soils in the Volgograd district [Russian Federation]

A map (scale 1:600000) of the present-day soil humus status has been complied for the Volgograd district; it served a basis to analize the humus pattern as related to relief. Humus content and pool have been calculated for soils of interstream areas and slopes, as well as its losses during 20 years of farming (including humus in soils of experimental farms and irrigated fields). Humus losses have been classified into erosional and biochemical groups. Optimal and critical assessment of the humus status has been made on the map
