The changes in Ca2+-ion content in the roots and solutions, surrounding roots in the wheat and rice seedlings has been studied under anaerobiosis. The anaerobiosis was shown to increase Ca2+-efflux from the wheat roots more than from rice ones. The preliminary processing of seedlings by exogenous 5x10-4 M CaCl2 inhibited the Ca2+-efflux from the rice roots, while such stabilizing effect of calcium was not observed in the wheat. Calcium effect on membrane permeability was blocked in the case of EDTA (10-3 M) fixation of bivalent cations. It was shown when using calcium channel blockers: nifedipin (10-4 M) and verapamil (10-4 M) that under anaerobic conditions Ca2+ transport is to the great extent connected with the activity of calcium channels
