Serum samples of 428 native cattle and 531 buffaloes in Thailand were tested for antibodies against trypanosome and babesias by indirect fluorescent antibody technique. The prevalence of antibodies against Trypanosoma evansi, Babesia bovis and Babesia bigemina were 50 %, 74.5 % and 74.5 % in cattle and 38.6 %, 41.1 % and 28.2 % in buffaloes, respectively. The distributions of the three parasite species in cattle and buffaloes were all over the country, and the infection rates were generally greater in cattle than in buffaloes.
