Three formulae of fertilizer, 15-15-15, Ammonium sulphate 21-0-0 and Urea 46-0-0, were applied to wheat no. 144 with six rates of nitrogen (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 kg N/rai) by broadcasting and banding methods. The experiment was conducted from October 1986 to February 1987 at the Agricultural Research and Training Center. At each level of nitrogen, wheat no. 144 responsed to 15-15-15 fertilizer better than Ammonium sulphate and urea. The difference between fertilizers was not significant but the trend showed that banding of Ammonium sulphate and urea led to reduced genmination at 20-30 kg N/rai. Plant height and number of seed per spike were not significantly different. Banding of Ammonium sulphate and urea showed higher 1,000 seed weight than broadcasting, however, there was no interaction between fertilizer formula applied and rates of application to seed weight.
