Morphological, physiological and production traits of some promising winter wheat lines and cultivars in north Metohia [Serbia (Yugoslavia)] conditions

Ten winter wheat genotypes have been studied for two years. Their morphological, physiological and production traits were studied, as well as the influence of sowing term, nitrogen fertilization and sowing density on these traits. The following traits were analysed: plant height, spike length, shooting-earing period duration, winter hardiness, lodging resistance, disease resistance, number of productive spikes per square m, number of grains per spike, grain production per spike, 1000-grain mass, hectoliter mass and grain yield. Effects of sowing time and nitrogen rate on almost all studied traits were observed. The highest grain yield had the following genotypes: Zemunka, Pe 2/5-5 and Pe 4/4.
