Comparative investigation of performance traits of broilers from different strain in 1991 [Yugoslavia]

During 6 weeks of fattening, 240 chickens of following strains were held: Arbor Acres, Hybro, Indian River and Lohmann. Hybro chickens achieved the biggest average body mass, on the level of significance, in all three surveyings. The lowest mortality (3.33), best feed conversion (1.690) and biggest values for production index (252.64) were obtained from Indian River chickens. Most satisfactory values for conformation measures were obtained from Hybro chickens. The best slaughter yield of males was obtained from Hybro chicks, and the lowest abdominal fat from Lohmann males. Somewhat better slaughter yields of females were obtained from carcasses of Arbor Acres chickens.
