The Use of Probiotics in Rations for Calves

One of the reasons why calves fall ill and die after birth are diseases of the digestive organs which cause diarrhea. For the effective cure and prophylaxis of postnatal diarrhoea bifidumbacterini, a lyophilized bifidobacteria, has been used. Bifidobacteria, the main representatives of normal microflora take an active part in the synthesis of lactic and acetic acids, vitamins B1, B2 and K, and also have an antagonistic effect on pathogenic microflora. The results of the feeding trial indicated that using "Bifido", the daily live weight gain of the calves was 114 g higher compared with that of the control group
