Production of photomicrographs and microscopic slides on the pollen morphology of cultivated ornamental plants in Metro Manila as aids in science instruction [Philippines]
1993
Romero, I.R.
From the thirty-two studied pollen grains, it was found out that the pollen grains from plants of the same genus have the same characteristics with regard to morphology. The exine of the studied pollen grains have thicker sexine than nexine. Pollen grains of cultivated ornamental plants in Metro Manila are mostly spherical in shape, but some are prolate and oblate. They are classified as either scabrate, rugate, or echinate for exine ornamentations, and as to either prorate, calpate or calporate for the apertures present. The pollen grains of cultivated ornamental plants in Metro Manila are typed as psillate, inaperturate, aperturate, and polyplicate. The slides and materials of the photomicrographs on the pollen morphology of cultivated ornamental plants used in the study are interesting instructional aids in Botany classes
