Inter-relationship and heritability studies were performed in 20 newly evolved coarse rice genotypes for further breeding programmes. High to very high heritability in broad sense was estimated for the characters studied. Higher genetic advance was found associated with number of grains per panicle followed by plant height and grain yield. Differences were small between genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variability. Tillers per plant were negatively associated with plant height and positively with grain yield. Positive correlations existed between plant height and panicle length and plant height and grains per panicle. Panicle length was positively associated with grains per panicle and negatively with 1000-grain weight and grains per panicle, 1000-grain weight was positively associated with grain yield. It is suggested that hybridization programme should include lines with greater number of productive tillers, long panicles and higher number of grain per panicle.
