Heterosis and inter-relationship estimates in maize hybrids for fodder yield and quality

Hybrids of five inbreds crossed in complete diallel were evaluated at three environments during 1988 for agronomic and quality traits. Highly significant differences were noted for all characters except nitrogen free extract. Location x genotype differences were also highly significant for all the agronomic traits. Heterotic effects were very high for dry matter, ear number and leaf area. Agronomic characters gave positive response, whereas both positive and negative associations were recorded for quality parameters
