Susceptibility of maize hybrids to frit fly (Oscinella frit L.)

Fifteen maize hybrids of different maturity and origin were tested in the years of 1984-93 to observe frit fly appearance. It was found correlation between symptoms intensity of frit fly damages and maize vigor depending on termal condition expressed as a sum of effective temperatures in early growth stages. Differences between hybrids were found as higher or lower relation between number of plants damaged by frit fly and speed of early maize growth
