Pretundra forest decline caused by Norilsk mining industry in the Krasnoyarsk region North was investigated. The amount of pollutants in the foliage, forest floor and soil, as well as stands vigor on permanent plots along pollution gradient and reference areas were investigated. An analysis of satellite images ("Meteor - Priroda", "Landsat-MSS", NOAA - AVHRR) has shown that forest decline was spread on the distance up to 200 hundred km from smelters, while on the distance 80 - 100 km the stands were dead. The "Meteor - Priroda" images temporary row analysis discovered dramatic increase of forest decline rate referred to late 70th and beginning of 80th
