Sugar beet yielding capasity as related to lighting regime during the growth period

Potted plants of sugar beet variety Belotserkovskaya odnosemyannaya 45 were grown under various lighting regimes. It has been shown that the sugar content of roots depended on the lighting at a lesser degree than the root weight. The shading of half of a plant during the growth period conditioned the reduced root weight and sugar content (by 2 and 1.18 times, respectively, as compared to the control), while in totally shaded plants the mentioned indexes decreased by 1.4 and 1.06 times, respectively
