Water and N-fertilizer for the production of baby corn [Zea mays]
1990
Wichean Foypikul
Interrelationship of two production inputs: water and N-fertilizer on the yield of baby corn was studied. The summer growth rate of baby corn was approximately 10-15 days faster than the winter's. The harvesting date was earlier and the plant showed better growth with respect to both the plant height and stem diameter. However, within any season, crop development did not differ much among experimental treatments. In Kamphaeng Saen area, the recommended rate of water application is 150 percents of PET (by Penmen formula based on 15 year average climatic data) and the rate of N-fertilizer application is 87.5-122.5 kgN/ha, which would produce yield of the total ear with husk of 5.00-6.25 ton/ha and the dehusked ear of 1.00-1.25 ton/ha.
