Experiment 1 tested five salt levels: 0, 0.20, 0.40, 0.80 and 1.60 % NaCl (by weight) on average electrical conductivity (EC) of saturation extract. The saturation extract EC could be estimated by equation: EC(mmhos/cm)=3.59+44.72 NaCl (%) (r=0.996**, n=5). Experiment 2 investigated the effect of four salt levels: 0, 0.10, 0.20 and 0.30 % NaCl (by weight). The saturation extract EC could still be estimated from % NaCl similar to Experiment 1 with slight difference in coefficient to the equation: EC(mmhos/cm)=0.733+53.23 NaCl (%) (r=0.997**, n=4). Experiment 3 studied effect of NaCl on growth, yield and chemical composition of forage legumes using split plot design having 4 salt levels 0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20 % NaCl (by weight) with the respective EC of 0.62, 3.33, 5.83 and 12.17 mmhos/cm as subplot and 4 kinds of legumes. Pure effect of salinity on yield index at each of the 3 growth stage was negatively and significantly correlated. Saturation extract EC of Korat soil that reduced yield index to 50 calculated for the 45, 90 and 120 days samples were 8.72, 8.13 and 7.40 mmhos/cm respectively. Saturation extract EC less than 12.17 mmhos/cm do not decrease forage legume quality by highly significantly decrease the forage legume yield.
