Some important morphological and productive characteristics of soybean as a second crop

The paper presents the results of study of some important morphological and productive characteristics of soybean as affected by sowing density in a double cropping system during the period 1989-1990 on the humogley soil type in Padinska Skela (Serbia, Yugoslavia). The data show that the different sowing density (D1-800,000 plants/ha; D2-600,000 plants/ha; D3-500,000 plants/ha) had a nonsignificant effect on obtained plant density, plant height, height of the first pod, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, and mass of 1000 seeds. Increase of plant density caused decrease of seed yield per plant, while increase of grain yield per ha was noticed.
