[The "desertification" in question [in French rural areas]]

The ,desertification', of the French rural areas is a much debated subject for it relies on a vague concept. After analysing the content of debates and precising what we mean by desertification, this contribution puts forward the results of a general analysis carried out on three scales and concludes that 'desertification'/devitalisation is really going on in a signficant part of the territory.
