The larval and pupal parasitoids of codling moth Cydia pomonella L.

To study the parasitoids of codling moth, Cydia pomonella L., diapausing larvae were caught in corrugated paper bands in non-treated and IPM orchards in the Lake Geneva region (Switzerland) in 1994 and 1995 as well as in the region of Goettingen (Germany) in 1995. The average rate of parasitism of the total collected larvae after diapause amounted to only 4.5 %. Six parasitoid species were found in the following order of decreasing frequency: Trichomma enecator Rossi, Pristomerus vulnerator Panz., Ascogaster quadridentata Wesm., Perilampus tristis Mayr (hyperparasitoid), Elodia tragica Meig., and Microdus rufipes Nees. In 1996 mature larvae of codling moth were exposed for two weeks to parasitism in non-treated orchards. Emergence of moths and parasitoids was observed in the laboratory. The average rate of pupal parasitism was 37.6 %. Pimpla turionellae L. and Liotryphon caudatus Ratz. were the most frequent parasitoids, but Dibrachys cavus Walk. and P. tristis were also present
