Soil humus dependent reflectance measurements on areas damaged by erosion

The subject of this study was to identify the most important wavelength bands for determination of soil humus content. For this study I used 110 soil samples of four soil genetic types. Bidirectional reflectance factor measurements were made in the laboratory with SM-2 spectroradiometer on DATE, spectral data were recorded in 10 nm distances along the spectral range from 400 to 1000 nm. Measurment results have been analysed by visual interpretation of reflectance curves. Database analysis has been made with QutroPro Spreadsheet software. BRF values of soil samples show differences in soil humus content as well as shape of reflectance curves. If humus content increases, there is a decrease in reflectance in curves shapes. The convex trend of curves - in visible wavelength region - changes and almost loses its typical shape at the highest H value. Linear regression analysis has been performed for determination of connection between humus content and reflectance as well as for identification of characteristics wavelength region. Relationships between BRF and humus H value is the strongest in the 560-660 nm region. Exponential function was the best fitting one for description of connection between reflectance and humus quality. During analysis I found that determination curve had 2 maximum value - except curves of forest affected chernoziem and bleakcorth soils. Based upon the facts mentioned above it can be stated that soil reflectance depends on quantity and in addition on quality of soil humus
