Fec(B)Fec(B) and Fec(B)Fec(+) genotypes of 200 Prolific Merino ewes, stock flock in Debrecen were assessed on the basis of single and repeated Ovulation Rate (OR) investigations of 169 and 147 animals respectively carrying Fec(B) gene in hetero- and homozygosity. Between 1988 and 1993 only 35 percent of investigated ewes gave four, or higher OR, but the results reached 50 percent in 1994. 3500 dosages of frozen semen of 16 booroola merino rams imported from New Zealand and their offspring bred in Hungary were store in straw, 3000 of them available in ten line and originate from Fec(B)Fec(B) rams. 336 intrauterine insemination has been carried out with the semen of eight rams lines. The average conception rate was 55 percent and significant individual differences (10-82 percent) were found. The application of this method is recommended for use in primarily milk- and prolific breeds
