Planting the resistant varieties is the best way to control blast disease on upland rice. The stable resistant varieties are needed, because blast pathogen (Pyricularia oryzae) has physiological races which be able to change rapidly. Screenings of upland rice cultivar were conducted during wet seasons 1990/91, 1991/92, and 1992/93 in Sitiung Experimental Station. Blast nursery screening methods that developed by IRRI was used in these researches. These studies found that varieties/lines CNA 4136, CNA 4140, CT 6194-16-1-2, IRAT 216, Tetep, and P 5584- 1-10-4-3-2p were the stable resistante to blast. Simariti, Sentani, and IRAT 212 were moderately resistant to blast. The other varieties/lines performed resistant to moderate, except CNA 4230, Dinorado, IAC 272, and CT 6196-12-9-1p-10
