A knowledge of the relationship between ionic strength and electrical conductivity (EC) for water and soil systems typical of Iraqi conditions is of interest due to variations within the systems under different environmental conditions. Soil and water samples of 408, were collected from different locations in Iraq. The results showed that the ionic strength of soil solution or water samples varied linearly with the changes of EC, with high correlation coefficients (v) and low standard deviation
