Root and crown rot is an important disease of safflower. Surface sterilied root and crown samples of diseased safflower plated on pepton PCNB agar. Fusarium solani consisted 75 of the isolates. Elongated cankers and root discoloration besides yellowing and death foliage were among distinct symptoms of the disease. The isolates on PDA, procured white, cream with violet radiation, pink and yellow with malichate green, sectors. The hyphae 2.67- 5.34m in width, macroconidia 5.34 * 24.3- 32.4m with 2-3 septa, microconidia unicellular 2.67-5.34* 17.02-10.68m and chlamydospore 8.01-12.01m. Cornmeal sand cultures were used as inoculum, and mixed with virgin soil (1:10) for pathogenicity and specificity tests. Besides safflower, seedlings of 14 monocot and dicot plants were transfered into pots containing inoculum and corn meal sand as control in the greenhouse. The isolates were found pathogenic only on safflower
