[Moisture content in the resistance of two bean varieties to Acanthoscelides obtectus (Coleoptera: Bruchidae)]

Life and fertility tables of the bean weevil Acanthoscelides obtectus were compared in the Amarillo 154 and Canario 107 bean varieties under two conditions: cohort developed in grain recently harvest (two months) with a high humidity content 80 % and cohort developed in mature grain (six months harvested) with low humidity content 6-8 %. The reproduction rates of the weevil were higher in the cohort breeding in recently harvest grain with a high humidity content in both varieties

Se compararon tablas de vida y fertilidad del gorgojo Acanthoscelides obtectus en las variedades del frijol Amarillo 154 y Canario 107 en dos condiciones: cohortes desarrollados en granos recien cosechados (dos meses) con alto contenido de humedad 80 % y cohortes desarrollados en granos cosechados seis meses antes, con bajo contenido de humedad 6-8 %. Las tasas de reproduccion del gorgojo fueron mayores en las cohortes criadas en granos con alto contenido de humedad en ambas variedades.
