Results of the study showed that of the 30 independent variables tested, only 10 were considered significant through correlation analysis. Subjecting these 10 variables further to stepwise regression analysis through the forward elimination procedure, 5 variables stood out as important in jointly estimating growth. These variables were: age, topsoil calcium, depth of the topsoil, subsoil phosphorus and provenance. Consequently, the site index guide equation was constructed. The growth prediction model generated was further subjected for validation, the purpose of which was to determine if the predicted growth of the A. mangium stand did not differ significantly from the observed growth. Paired t-test was used to differentiate the predicted growth against the observed growth. Result of this test indicated that the predicted growth of the stand was essentially similar with the observed or actual growth. Based on the result of the present study, the growth of A.mangium stands at the PTFI can be accurately predicted on account of some measurable factors of time (i.e. age), physiography, soils, and genetic factors such as provenance
