A study was conducted during 1988-89 at Department of Horticulture, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad to ascertain micronutrients effect on certain parameters of and productivity in potatoes. Treatments consisted of soil and foliar application of various micronutrients in the form of solution Sampi-3 (a multiple micronutrient product) and ZnSO4 (1 ppm). Mean values for 5/3/89 indicated that all treatments except T7 (zinc foliar application three sprays) behaved significantly alike for 5/3/89 and similar situation occurred for 20/3/89 and 25/3/89. Results for other dates were non-significant. Plants did not respond to micronutrients for their growth characters. Data on plant growth did not support the general attention that application of micronutrients could materialize in any case. Plant deficient in Zn would show a sign of susceptibility to various diseases. Present studies indicated that crop duration was not enhanced so increase in number of leaves did not occur. Actually it is the number of eyes from the tubers that give number of stems. T6 (zinc foliar application two sprayers) excelled treatments which stood at par. ZnSO4 proved effective when plants were subjected to two foliar applications.
