Effect of different planting patterns on growth and yield behaviour of spring sunflower was evaluated at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad during 1985. The planting geometry comprised 60 cm apart single row (60 x 30 cm), 90 cm apart double row strips (30/90 x 30 cm), 60 x 60 cm hills with two plants per hill, 45 cm apart rows (45 x 40 cm) and 90 cm apart rows (90 x 20 cm). The results revealed that seed weight per head, number of filled seeds per head and seed yield were significantly affected by different planting patterns except head diameter. Higher seed yield (27 q/ha) was obtained in plots planted in 90 x 20 cm pattern. 60 x 60 cm hills with two plants per hill produced minimum yield (22.77 q/ha).
