Expansion and harmful effects of Galium aparine L., on winter rape in the loess soil of Czeslawice

The investigations proved that Galium aparine L. was the expansive species on loess soil in Czeslawice. Mean number of its plants in winter rape crop exceeded 10 plants per square m in 1993-95, while previously this occurred very rarely. The yield of winter rape seeds was reduced by - 30% when the number of Galium aparine plants reached 8-11 per square m compared to fields with no Galium aparine. The loss of yield varied significantly from year to year. For example 0.68 t/ha in 1993, while 1.15 t/ha in 1994
