Effect of the system of rye and potatoes cultivating on the contents and fractional composition of the humus in the soil

Growing of rye and potatoes in the monoculture and in the facultative crop rotation with the mineral fertilization only, lowered the content of organic substance in the soil by 33 percent in relation to five-year rotation. In case of rye growing, more humic acids, fulvic acids and humines were accumulated in the soil, whereas in case of potatoes, more bitumens and carbon from decalcification were stated. In respect of the amount of humus, the best system was five year crop rotation, the monoculture was decisively worse and the facultative rotation was the worst one. In the case of potatoes, the monoculture occurred to be the worst system
