Multicultivar legume-grass crops as a method of increasing floristic diversity and feeding value of pasture sward

Effects of various legume-grass mixture sown on black and peat-marsh soils on grassland sward floristic composition, yield and some macro-element contents were studied. Trifolium repens, Lotus corniculatus, Medicago sativa and M. lupulina seeds were mixed (1:1) with the composition of grasses (Lolium perenne, Dactylis glomerata, Phleum pratese). The best sward persistence was obtained with white clover mixture. Higher seasonal changes of legume contents in the pasture sward were observed on mineral than on the peat-mursh soil. Introduced Lolium perenne cultivars predominated the sward on both types of soil
