The real diameters of fungal mycelium were discovered to be far below than an accepted one in 5 mcm, contrary to that of spores. There is an essential similarity in real diameters of fungal mycelium in 2 forest zone soils (4.1 and 4.0 mcm) and 2 steppe soils (3.0 and 3.3 mcm). The fungal mycelium length was considerably higher in all the soils in a rainy summer of 1993 as compared to the dry one of 1992. The fungal biomass parameters computed with the account of real and conventional values for spore and mycelium diameters in a sod-podzolic soil were practically the same, whereas the difference in these parameters reached 1.5 - 2 times in a chernozem and a chestnut soil
