The quantity and quality production of terpenoid substances in three coniferous species (Abies alba, Juniperus communis and Pinus sylvestris) were reviewed. Needle samples were taken in a relatively clean environment of the Arboretum Mlynany (Slovak Republic) during dormancy period. The oil analyses were carried out in a gas chromatograf CHROM 5 using a quartz capillary column with an inner diameter of 0.2 mm and length of 25 m, which was impregnated with Carbowax 20M. From the needles of Abies alba Mill. 12 kinds of terpenoids substances were extracted; three were not identified. A dominant portion was occupied by 1.8-Cineol (48.9 %). In Juniperus communis L., 17 kinds of terpenoides were analyzed; 10 substances remained unidentified. The dominant component part for this woody species was alfa-Pinen (34.1 %). From the Scotch pine 19 component parts of terpenoid substances were analyzed; eight substances were not identified. Alfa-Pinene was the most frequent substance (35.8 %) in a quantity comparable with that observed in juniperus
