The occurrence of pollen allergens is high in meadow and pasture vegetation taken as a model. In 23 plant communities 65 spontaneous allergenic species were found (26 of them were tested). In the species structure of the communities, anemophilous species from the families Poaceae, Cyperaceae, Juncaceae, Urticaceae prevail. The phytoallergens from the families Plantaginaceae, Polygonaceae, Asteraceae, Amaranthaceae, Chenopodiaceae and Daucaceae are present in a smaller number. Quantitatively, the highest proportion of allergens and thus also the amount of airborne pollen is produced in the associations Urtico-Aegopodietum podagrariae, Lolio-Plantaginetum, Phragmitetum communis, Alopecuretum pratensis, Junco effusi-Deschampsietum, Arrhenatheretum elatioris and Lolio-Cynosuretum. The period of pollen dissemination of allergenic dominants in meadows and pastures under Slovak conditions falls in May and June.
