Cropping Effects of Crotalaria striata, Crotalaria anagyroides and Tomato on Population Levels of Meloidogyne spp. and on Tomato Yields

Dipotaroeno-Sakrama, M. (Agricultural Experiment Station, Paramaribo (Suriname). Division of Nematology)
Root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp., are the most important pathogens of vegetables in Suriname. They damage roots of plants resulting in death of the plant. Chemical control by using nematicides is possible, but it is costly and poses a threat to humans and environment. The results of the use of Crotalaria spp. as rotation crop on the population of Meloidogyne spp. in tomato crops are discussed. Crop rotation is advised in crop schedules as method of decreasing nematode populations
